Message from the President
 |
Welcome Softball Coaches and Fans,
The North Carolina Softball Coaches Association and I would like to wish you all the best as we begin the new school year. It is always exciting at this time of the year as we prepare for the upcoming season.
I am very excited about the upcoming year as well. The Association is ready for a great year. This summer there were some changes made to the executive board. Some of the District Chairs moved on to other chapters in their career, so there are some new district chairs. Please check the executive board page on the website to determine your district chair. Craig Rogers is taking over as Eastern Vice-President. The combination of the new energy and the board members that remained in place makes this is an exciting time.
The summer meeting this year also saw the first announcement of the Coaches of the Year for each District and the induction of the first class of the Virtual Hall of Fame. If you take a look at those sections of the webpage you will see the 8 Coaches of the Year and the 5 new members of our Hall of Fame. Congratulations to all of these coaches and thank you for all you have done for softball in North Carolina.
We also had some things discussed at the summer meeting that will effect this coming school year and softball season. There will be a coaches’ clinic held at Laney this January, we hope to see everyone there. The state games will be held in Winston Salem this year with softball being played at Forsyth Country Day School. The All-District and All-State programs were very successful in recognizing young ladies this past season and will continue this year with some minor changes made in the due dates for All-District. The scholarship program will also remain in place for the coming year, so be thinking about who you would like to nominate. I am honored to serve the softball community in North Carolina. Hope everyone has a great school year and successful softball season. See you at the field.

NCSCA Begins North Carolina Softball Hall of Fame
The Association has established a Hall of Fame for softball in North Carolina. With over 375 high schools in the state fielding softball teams every year, the number of coaches and players who have participated past and present is enormous. Our state has seen explosive growth in popularity of the sport, especially since switching from slowpitch to fastpitch in the late 1990's. The quality of the game and the capabilities of the athletes have advanced tremendously. Those individuals who work tirelessly over the years for the betterment of the sport and the athletes should be recognized. Often times, these individuals do so purely for love of the sport and dedication to working with our athletes.
Our Hall of Fame committee has selected five individuals for the inaugural 2010 class of inductees who have made significant and outstanding contributions to the sport. Please click here or on the "Hall of Fame" tab above to meet our inductees.
2010 NCSCA Coaches of the Year
The Association is pleased to announce our Coach of the Year selections for 2010. Regional recognition for North Carolina high school softball coaches was begun this year to reward outstanding dedication and achievement. All of our recipients have certainly earned the honor. Click here or on the "Coach of the Year" tab above to see the recipients.

NCSCA Names Honorary Members
NCSCA is showing its sincere appreciation to Randy Hege, Alan Parham, and Alex Rosato by naming them Honorable Members of the association. These three individuals have provided extraordinary support to our organization that is truly noteworthy.
Randy Hege, sales representative for Cook's Sporting Goods of North Wilkesboro has for the past three years, secured without charge, all of the uniforms used by our State Games fastpitch participants. Each year the players are allowed to keep their uniforms as mementos of the Games.
Alan Parham, Director of Scouting for Central and Western North Carolina NSR each year publishes the NCSCA State Games Souvenir Program which the participants receive, and also volunteers as our P.A. announcer at the Games.
Alex Rosato serves as our official State Games photographer. He is responsible for capturing those incredible action photos that enable us to document the Games here on this website. Alex also contributes many outstanding photos taken of softball action in his area during the high school season.
We are indeed fortunate to have these individuals willing to give their time and effort to support high school softball in North Carolina.
